전쟁은 하나님의 채찍

왕하19:19

생명의 말씀

“우리 하나님 여호와여 원컨대 이제 우리를 그 손에서 구원하옵소서 그리하시면 천하 만국이 주 여호와는 홀로 하나님이신 줄 알리이다 하니라”

‘전쟁’은 신학적으로 볼 때 죄 많은 나라를 들어서 죄 작은 나라를 때려 깨우치게 하는 것입니다. 심판의 도구로 사용된 나라는 스스로 교만하다가 망하게 되는 것 또한 성경이 말씀해주고 있는 사실입니다. 과거 이스라엘이 하나님 앞에 죄를 지었을 때 하나님은 ‘앗수르’를 충동시켜 이스라엘을 치셨습니다. 사10:15-16절에서는 ‘도끼’와 ‘막대기’로 이스라엘을 상징하는 ‘나무’를 치실 것을 비유적으로 말씀하고 있습니다.

6.25 전쟁이 나기 전 우리나라는 얼마나 부패했습니까? 온갖 부정부패가 난무하던 사회를 하나님께서는 공의로운 채찍을 들어서 심판하셨습니다. 큰 나라 바벨론이 그러한 식으로 하다가 망했습니다. 로마 제국도 멸망 직전에 얼마나 부패했습니까? 공의가 땅에 떨어지고 죄악이 관영할 때 하나님께서는 북쪽의 끓는 가마가 남쪽으로 쏟아진다고 예레미야 선지자에게 경고해 주셨습니다. 또한 살구나무 꽃에 관한 계시를 통해 말씀해 주셨습니다.

정신적으로는 공산주의와 자유주의의 의미조차 모르면서 서로 상대방을 헐뜯기에 바빴고, 사회적으로는 사교춤과 불륜이 극에 달하던 때였습니다. 이로 인해 가정이 파탄나고 말았습니다. 결국 하나님께서는 이 백성을 위해서 진노의 몽둥이를 들 수밖에 없었습니다. 그 진노의 몽둥이에 실컫 얻어맞아 만신창이가 되고 난 후에야 겨우 깨닫게 된 것입니다.

6.25 전쟁뿐 아니라 언제라도 당신의 백성들이 하나님을 도외시하고, 경외하지 않는다면 그 이상의 심판과 징계가 재현될 수 있다는 것입니다. 6.25 당시는 양심이 타락하고 공의가 땅에 떨어졌지만 지금 상황은 그 당시와 비교해볼 때 오히려 더 극에 달해 있기 때문입니다. 남녀노소 막론하고 도덕성이 타락했습니다. 어른과 아이의 구별이 없고, 스승과 제자의 구별, 배움의 격차, 지방색의 갈등, 선후배의 구별이 없는 시대를 우리 두 눈으로 보고 있지 않습니까?

전쟁을 통한 하나님의 징계와 사랑을 깨닫고, 하나님의 심판이 임하기 전에 먼저 뜻에 순종하는 믿음의 삶을 살아감으로 위로부터 주시는 참 평안의 축복을 누릴 수 있도록 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

“Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, Lord, are God.”

When viewed in a theological perspective, ‘war’ is used as a tool that is uses a country with a lot of sin as a whip to teach a country with less sin. The Bible is teaching us the demise of a nation that is used as God’s tool of judgment due to their arrogance. When the Israelites sinned before God in the past, God drove Assyria to attack the Israelites. In Isaiah 10:15-16, God uses an axe and sticks to afflict the ‘tree’ which symbolizes Israel.

How corrupt was the nation of Korea before the June 25th Korean War? God judged our society that was saturated with all sorts of corruption with the whip of justice. The great nation of Babylon fell in the same way and how corrupt was the Roman Empire prior to its collapse? He warned the prophet Jeremiah that when the righteous fall to the ground and sin was overflowing, the cauldron that is boiling in the North will pour over to the South. Also, God spoke through the revelation about the apricot tree.

It was a time when people were unaware of the meaning of communism and liberalism. Rather it was a time when they were busy making slanderous remarks about each other and it was a time when Korea was swept with ballroom dancing and adultery had reached its peak. Due to this families were breaking apart. Ultimately God had no choice but to reach for His whip of wrath for His people. They were able to realize after they had become a total wreck having been struck by this whip.

This applies not only to the Korean War, but to all of us. If God’s people ignore Him and no longer revere Him, the judgment of God beyond that of the Korean War may occur. In the period leading up to the Korean War, people’s conscious were corrupt and justice had fallen to the ground, however, when we compare the situation then to now we can see that this situation has reached its peak. Men and women regardless of age have lost their integrity. We see a world where there is no difference between an adult and a child, a teacher and a student, in education, in seniority.  

 

Prayer Title

Pray that you will be able to understand the discipline and love that is shown through war and obey the will of God before He judges and by living a life of faith enjoy the blessing of true peace that is given to you from above.
