엡5:25-27

생명의 말씀

“남편들아 아내 사랑하기를 그리스도께서 교회를 사랑하시고 위하여 자신을 주심 같이 하라 이는 곧 물로 씻어 말씀으로 깨끗하게 하사 거룩하게 하시고 자기 앞에 영광스러운 교회로 세우사 티나 주름잡힌 것이나 이런 것들이 없이 거룩하고 흠이 없게 하려 하심이니라”

사도바울은 고전15:45-49절에서 첫째 아담과 둘째 아담되시는 그리스도를 비교하고 있습니다. 첫째 아담의 신부가 하와였다면 둘째 아담되시는 그리스도의 신부는 바로 교회입니다. 첫 아담의 신부는 아담의 신체 일부를 통해 만들었지만 예수님은 십자가 상에서 물과 피를 다 쏟으심으로 그의 신부인 교회를 낳았습니다. 신부인 교회를 위해 생명과 피를 바칠만큼 뜨겁게 사랑했습니다. 그러므로 예수님에 대한 사랑은 예수님의 사랑의 대상이었던 교회를 사랑하는 것입니다. 그러면 예수님의 신부된 교회를 어떻게 사랑해야 할까요?

첫째는 자기 생명처럼 교회를 사랑해야 합니다. 엡5:25절 말씀을 볼 때 “남편들아 아내 사랑하기를 그리스도께서 교회를 사랑하시고 위하여 자신을 주심같이 하라”고 하였습니다. 이 말씀처럼 예수님께서는 자기 전체를 드리시기까지 교회를 사랑하셨습니다. 마찬가지로 예수님을 사랑하는 우리는 예수님의 신부인 교회를 뜨겁게 사랑해야 합니다. 교회와 더불어 웃고 울고 고민하고 염려할 줄 아는 것이 바로 교회를 사랑하고 있는 증거입니다.

둘째는 교회는 위하여 짐을 져야 합니다. 건전한 남편이라면 신앙적, 정신적, 물질적 짐을 짊어집니다. 골1:24절에서 사도바울은 “그리스도의 남은 고난을 그의 몸된 교회를 위하여 내 육체에 채우노라”고 하였습니다. 교회 안에는 여러가지 모양의 짐들이 많습니다. 이를 자신의 부분으로 여겨 짐을 지는 자가 교회를 뜨겁게 사랑하는 자입니다.

셋째는 모든 관심을 예수님의 신부인 교회에 쏟아 붓는 것입니다. 예수님의 관심사는 자신의 신부인 교회에 집중되고 있습니다. 그러므로 교회를 사랑하는 자는 예수님을 뜨겁게 사랑하는 자입니다. 예수님의 사랑을 받게 됩니다. 교회를 부요케하는 자는 예수님의 축복의 부요를 체험한 성도가 됩니다. 교회의 고난에 동참하는 자는 예수님의 위로를 받고 항상 은혜 가운데 살아가게 될 것입니다.

주께서 당신의 신부된 교회를 사랑하시되 당신의 생명을 다 바쳐 사랑한 것처럼, 그리스도께 대한 우리의 사랑도 교회를 향한 사랑으로 나타나야 할 것입니다. 오늘 하루도 주의 몸된 교회를 사랑하며 충성할 수 있도록 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and bameless.”

In 1st Corinthians 15:45-49, Apostle Paul compares first Adam and second Adam, Jesus. Wife of first Adam is Eve and the wife of second Adam is the church. Wife of first Adam was made from Adam’s flesh, but the wife of the second Adam, the church, was created from the blood and water that Jesus shed on the cross. Jesus loved the church to the point where He gave up His life and shed His blood. Therefore, the love of Jesus is the church – the bride of Christ. Then how can we ourselves love the church – the bride of Christ?





First, you need to love the church like your own life. Ephesians 5:25 states, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her.” Jesus loved the church whereby He gave up everything. If we love Jesus then we must love the church too. This love is evident when you laugh, cry, are worried and concerned for the church.

Second, you need to bear the burdens of the church. If you have a healthy marriage then you will freely give spiritually, mentally, and financially to your spouse. Colossians 1:24 states, “Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I do my share on behalf of His body, which is the church, in filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions.” There are many different types of burdens at church. If you really love the church then you must personally take on these burdens.

Third, all your attention should be towards the church – bride of Christ. Jesus’ attention and focus were only on the church. Therefore, when you love the church, then you really love Jesus whereby you will receive His love. When you enrich the church, then Jesus will enrich you with His blessings. When you participate in the suffering of the church, then Jesus will grant you the comfort and bless you with a life filled with grace.

As our Lord loved the church -His bride where He gave up His own life, pray that you can love the church the same way with full loyalty.
