히13:8

생명의 말씀

“예수 그리스도는 어제나 오늘이나 영원토록 동일하시니라”

옛날이나 오늘이나 앞으로도 영원토록 변치않는 분은 오직 예수님밖에 없습니다. 예수님은 영원한 오늘이요, 영원불변의 존재이기에 우리가 그분 안에 거하면 우리도 예수님처럼 변치않는 영원한 오늘이 될 수 있습니다. 그렇다면 예수님의 영원성이란 무슨 뜻일까요?

첫째, 항상 살아계시는 인격적인 주님이심을 뜻합니다. 예수님은 모든 우주 만물의 주인이시며 인격적인 주인이십니다. 그러므로 예수님은 “자기를 힘입어 하나님께 나아가는 자들을 온전히 구원하실 수 있다”(히7:25)고 하셨습니다.

둘째, 예수님의 본질이 영원하다는 뜻입니다. 사람은 말을 했다가도 행하지 못함으로 ‘식언’하며 ‘후회’하는 존재이지만 하나님은 “식언치 않으시고 후회도 없으신 분”(민23:19)입니다. 당신이 창조하신 하늘과 땅은 옷과 같이 낡아지고 변할 것이지만 “오직 주는 영존할 것이요 ... 주는 여전하여 연대가 다함이 없으리라”(히1:10-12)라고 하였습니다. 그러므로 예수님만이 영원불변의 존재입니다. 시공을 초월하시고 연대가 다함이 없는 분입니다. 이것이 바로 예수님 자신의 영원 자존성을 말해주고 있습니다.

셋째, 예수님의 십자가 피의 영원한 효력을 뜻합니다. 예수님께서 십자가 상에서 이루신 구원의 역사는 구약 때처럼 염소나 송아지 피로 한 것이 아닙니다. “오직 자기 피로 영원한 속죄를 이루셨습니다”(히9:12). 예수님의 희생이 우리의 죄와 죄의 값인 사망을 지불하고 사단의 권세에서 찾아내고, 죄와 사망의 권세에서 자유와 해방을 주셨습니다. 이처럼 예수님의 십자가 피는 ‘단번에’, ‘영원한’ 속죄를 이루셨습니다.

결코 변치않는 예수님의 십자가 피의 효력, 그 영원성을 믿고 믿음으로 예수님의 십자가 공로를 받아들일 때, 우리의 삶 가운데 놀라운 사죄의 은총이 주어집니다.

여러분에게 영원히 변치않는 진리와 은총이 있습니까? 예수 그리스도는 항상 살아계시는 인격적 주님이시며 영원불변하신 분입니다. 오늘 하루도 그분께 의지함으로 십자가 공로의 효력과 능력이 나를 이끄는 하루가 되기 위해서 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever”

Only Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Jesus is the eternal ‘today’ and eternally unchangeable therefore when we remain in him we can become the eternally unchangeable today. Then what does Jesus’ eternity mean?

First, it means the Lord who is always alive. Jesus is the owner of all things in the universe therefore Jesus said in Hebrews 7:25 “therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.”

Second, it means that the nature of Jesus’ existence is eternal. A man cannot take accountability for his words and takes back what he says and regrets, however according to Numbers 23:19 God does not change his mind nor does he speak and then not act. The heavens and the earth that he created will wear out like clothes and change but “he will remain the same and his years will never end.” (Heb 1:10-12). Therefore only Jesus is eternally unchanging. Only he is able to surpass time and space and only his days are eternal. This shows us the eternal self existence of Jesus Christ himself.

Third, it means the eternal strength of Jesus’ blood. The work of salvation that Jesus carried out up on the cross was not done through the blood of a goat or calf like in the Old Testament. “He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.” (Heb 9:12) Jesus’ sacrifice paid for our sins and liberated us from the grasp of Satan and the authority of death. Like this the blood Jesus shed for us on the cross immediately formed an eternal salvation. When we receive the eternal strength and power of Jesus’ blood and Jesus work on the cross, an amazing grace of forgiveness will be given upon our lives.

Prayer Title

Do you have an eternal truth and grace that is unchanging? Jesus Christ is the Lord who is always alive and unchangeable. Pray that by relying on him today your life will be led by the power of the work of the cross.
