소망을 하나님께 두라

시78:7-8

생명의 말씀

“저희로 그 소망을 하나님께 두며 하나님의 행사를 잊지 아니하고 오직 그 계명을 지켜서 그 열조 곧 완고하고 패역하여 그 마음이 정직하지 못하며 그 심령은 하나님께 충성치 아니한 세대와 같지 않게 하려 하심이로다”

여러분은 어떠한 소망을 가지고 있습니까? 물질적으로 부유하고 건강한 것, 하는 일에 대하여 성공하는 소망을 품게 되는 것이 모든 사람들의 공통적인 꿈일 것입니다. ‘소망’이란‘바라는 것’, ‘기대하는 것’을 의미하며 결코 끊어져서는 않되는 것을 말합니다. 그러므로 어떠한 고난과 역경 속에서도 하나님께서 주시는 소망을 붙잡고 놓치지 아니할 때, 소망대로 이루어지는 것입니다. 그렇다면 우리의 소망은 어디에 두어야 할까요?

첫째, 우리의 소망은 하나님께 두어야 합니다. 시편 기자는 “야곱의 하나님으로 자기 도움을 삼으며 여호와 자기 하나님께 그 소망을 두는 자는 복이 있도다”(시146:5)라고 하였습니다. 또한 시144:15절에서는 “여호와를 자기 하나님으로 삼는 백성은 복이 있도다”라고 말씀하고 있습니다. 이는 하나님만이 우리의 모든 소원과 기도를 들어주시고 응답해 주시는 분이기에 오직 그분께만 우리의 소망을 두어야 합니다.

둘째, 우리의 소망을 예수님께 두어야 합니다. 사도바울은 “우리의 소망이신 그리스도 예수”(딤전1:1)라고 분명히 고백하고 있습니다. 나아가 사도 요한은 “주를 향하여 이 소망을 가진 자마다 깨끗하심과 같이 자기를 깨끗하게 하느니라”(요일3:3)고 하였습니다. 이처럼 오직 예수님께만 소망을 두었기 때문에 사도바울은 예수님의 비밀을 맡은 자가 되어 복음을 증거하는 큰 사도가 될 수 있었습니다. 또한 겟세마네 동산에서 세 제자와 기도하실 때 예수님은 모세와 엘리야와 더불어 나타나셨지만, “오직 예수 외에는 아무도 보이지 아니하더라”(마17:8)고 하였습니다. 이는 우리의 소망의 대상은 ‘오직 예수’뿐임을 말해줍니다.

셋째, 우리의 소망은 하늘에 쌓아두어야 합니다. “오직 너희를 위하여 보물을 하늘에 쌓아두라”(마6:20)하신 예수님의 말씀을 본받아 이 세상에 마음과 뜻을 두지 말고 주의 일에 헌신할 때, 하나님께서는 우리를 위하여 “하늘에 쌓아둔 소망”(골1:5)을 예비해 주십시다.

이 세상에서의 성공과 번영을 위해 마음과 뜻을 빼앗기지 않고 하나님과 예수 그리스도께 소망을 두고, 하늘에 우리의 소망을 쌓아가는 한 날이 될 수 있기를 위해 기도하십시오.

Psalm 78:7-8

The Word of Life

Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands. They would not be like their ancestors— a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose hearts were not loyal to God, whose spirits were not faithful to him.

What kind of hope do you have? We all hope and dream to become wealthier, healthier and succeed in what we do. To “hope” means to “wish for” or to “anticipate” and signifies something that should never become disconnected therefore through whatever suffering and hardship if we hold onto the hope that God gives us our hope will be fulfilled. Then where must we put our hope?

First, we must put our hope in God. The Psalmist tells us in Psalm 146:5 that “blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD their God” and also in Psalm 144:15 that “blessed is the people of whom this is true; blessed is the people whose God is the LORD. Because only God listens to all out hopes and prayers we must only put our hope in God.

Second, we need to put our hope in Jesus. The apostle Paul confesses in 1 Timothy 1:1 that “Christ Jesus is our hope”. Moreover John the Baptist said in 1 John 3:3 that “all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.” Because the apostle Paul only put his hope in Jesus he was able to become a great apostle who was entrusted with Jesus’ secret and proclaimed the gospel. Furthermore, when Jesus was praying in the mountains of Gethsemane with three of his disciples, Jesus appeared before them alongside Moses and Elijah however in Matthew 17:8 “when they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.” This tells us that the subject of our hope is only Jesus himself.

Third, we must pile up our hope in heaven. We need to follow Jesus’ commandment in Matthew 6:20 and “store up for ourselves treasures in heaven” putting our hearts in the work of the Lord rather than in the world, God will prepare “the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven” (Col 1:5).

Prayer Title

Pray that we don’t lose our heart and will for success and prosperity within this world and put your hope only in Jesus Christ so that today we can pile up our hope in heaven.
