물 위를 걸으신 예수님

마14:25-27

생명의 말씀

“밤 사경에 예수께서 바다 위로 걸어서 제자들에게 오시니 제자들이 그 바다 위로 걸어오심을 보고 놀라 유령이라 하며 무서워하여 소리 지르거늘 예수께서 즉시 일러 가라사대 안심하라 내니 두려워말라””

예수를 믿고 그의 백성이 되어 그리스도 안에서 새로운 피조물로 살아가고 하는 자들은 믿음으로 세상의 모든 영화를 배설물같이 버린 자들입니다. 모세는 세상 물질의 욕심이 가장 강렬하게 발산되는 40의 나이에 애굽의 모든 보화보다 하나님의 백성과 함께 고생하면서 하나님의 뜻을 받듦으로 인해 받게되는 상급이 훨씬 크다는 것을 깨달았습니다. 모세처럼 하나님의 말씀의 능력을 체험한 자는 세상의 욕심을 초월할 수 있습니다. 바람과 폭풍, 성난 물결이 몰아치는 물결조차 잠잠케 하며, 유유히 걸을 수 있는 능력을 얻게 됩니다.

그렇기 위해서는 먼저 자신을 부인해야 합니다. 자신을 정복하고 다스리지 못하는 자는 언제나 스스로를 우상으로 만들 소지가 많습니다. 그래서 주님도 먼저 자신을 부인하고 자기 십자가를 질 때만이 당신을 따를 수 있다고 말씀하셨습니다(마16:24). 성경은 이 세상을 음녀가 깔고 앉은 악한 물이라고 표현하고 있습니다(계17:15). 이 물 속에는 인간을 괴롭히는 근심과 걱정, 한숨, 그리고 악한 병들이 다 들어 있습니다. 이런 물 위를 주님은 걸으신 것입니다. 성난 사자같은 풍랑과 물결을 호령하심은 물론 그 위를 걸으시고 우리에게도 걸을 수 있는 능력과 권세를 주셨습니다. 그러므로 예수를 온전히 믿기만 하면 우리도 물 위를 걸을 수 있습니다.

물 위를 걷기 위해서는 바랄 수 없는 것을 바라는 믿음이 있어야 합니다. 예수님께서 이 땅에 오신 목적은 어둠의 세력에 사로잡혀 병으로 신음하며 고통하는 인간에게 자유와 해방을 주시기 위함입니다. 믿음만 있다면 못할 것이 없습니다. 믿음만 있다면 보지 못할 것이 없습니다. 자신이 어떤 질병, 어떤 고통과 환난 가운데 있다 할지라도 물 위를 걸어 오셔서 구원해 주신 주님의 능력이 함께 할 때 불가능이 없습니다. 예수님은 우리의 믿음의 주이십니다(히12:2). 그분을 믿는 믿음으로 충만할 때, 주님은 우리를 결코 내버려두지 않습니다. 반드시 붙잡아 주시고 굳게 세워주십니다. 물에 빠져가는 베드로를 건져 굳세게 하신 것처럼 말입니다.

인생의 바다에서 빠져 허우적거리는 모습이 혹시 여러분의 모습은 아닙니까? 어떤 질병이나 근심, 물질의 바다에 빠져간다 할지라도 물 위를 걸으신 예수님을 붙잡고, 그분의 말씀을 믿는 믿음으로 여러분도 물 위를 걷는 승리의 하루가 되도록 기도하십시오.

Matt 14:25-27

The Word of Life

25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.27 But Jesus immediately said to them:“ Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

Those who believe in Jesus and have become his people and live as a new creation are people who have considered all worldly honors as waste and disposed of it. Moses realised at the age of forty that uplifting the will of God and toiling with the people of God and receiving the reward that follows was far greater than seeking the materialistic things of the world. If we experience the power of the Word of God we too can surpass worldly greed and we will be able to gain the power to serenely pass even through gusts of wind and raging waves.

In order to be able to do this we must first deny ourselves. Those who aren’t able to conquer and govern themselves will always be susceptible to idolizing themselves. Therefore the Lord said that to follow him we must first deny ourselves and carry the cross (Matt 16:24). The Bible describes this world as a place that is “waters where the prostitute sits” (Rev 17:15). Within these waters are the worries, anxieties, sighs and illnesses that torment people. The Lord walked over such waters. He tamed the raging waves of the sea and walked over it also giving us the power and authority to do the same thus if we have complete faith in Jesus we too can walk over water.

To walk over water we must have the faith to hope for things that we cannot hope for. Jesus’ purpose in coming down to this earth was to give freedom and liberation to mankind who was ill and moaning in pain having been engulfed in the power of darkness of this world. If we have faith nothing is impossible and there is nothing we cannot see. Nothing .is impossible when the power of the Lord is with us healing any form of illness and gives us salvation from whatever pain and sufferings we are going through. Jesus is our faithful savior (Heb 12:2). When we are filled with the faith for Him, the Lord will not leave us alone. He will surely hold onto us and make us stand strong just as he saved Peter from drowning and made him strong.

Prayer Title

Are you drowning in the sea waters? Pray that whatever illness or worries you have you will be able to hold onto Jesus who walked over water and by believing in his word you will be able to live a victorious day where you too will walk over water.
