기도의 응답은?

생명의 말씀

“그를 향하여 우리의 가진바 담대한 것이 이것이니 그의 뜻대로 무엇을 구하면 들으심이라 우리가 무엇이든지 구하는 바를 들으시는 줄을 안즉 우리가 그에게 구한 그것을 얻은 줄을 또한 아느니라”

우리에게 신앙의 대상이 있다는 것은 참으로 큰 축복이 아닐 수 없습니다. 그 대상이 더군다나 모든 것의 모든 것 되시는 만물의 주인 되시는 하나님이시라는 사실은 더욱더 우리의 마음을 든든하게 해줍니다. 그러나 이러한 하나님을 믿으면서도 기도의 응답이 없다면 더 큰 문제입니다. 그렇다면 성도가 응답받지 못하는 이유가 무엇일까요?

첫째, 말씀을 업신여기면 기도의 응답이 없습니다. 말씀대로 믿지 못하고, 말씀을 말씀대로 대접하지 못하면 하나님을 업신여기는 죄가 됩니다. 하나님은 당신의 말씀을 그대로 믿고 받을 때 악을 이기는 권세와 능력을 축복으로 주신다고 분명하게 약속하고 계십니다(신28:1-14). 반면에 이런 말씀을 저버리고 믿지 않으며, 말씀대로 생활하지 않으면 만사가 ‘불통’일 뿐입니다(신28:15-60). 더하여 하나님께서는 그러한 자에게는 애굽의 모든 질병까지 쏟아 부어 주시겠다고 하셨습니다. 말씀을 업신여기지 않고 오직 아멘으로 그 말씀을 영접하고 말씀의 열매가 되고자 할 때 하나님은 반드시 응답해 주십니다.

둘째, 회개하지 않으면 응답이 없습니다. 죄 문제를 해결하지 않고는 절대 천국에 들어갈 수 없습니다. 세례요한이나 예수님의 첫 번째 음성이 죄 문제의 해결을 위한 회개의 촉구였다는 것이 이를 증명합니다(마3:2,4,17). 욥도 “죄 없이 망한 자가 누구냐?”고 반문하면서 죄에 대한 해결을 촉구하고 있습니다. 그러므로 회개하지 않고는 응답이 없고 하나님의 뜻을 알 수 없지만, 회개할 때는 유쾌케 되는 날이 보장됩니다(행3:19).

셋째, 사랑하지 않으면 응답이 없습니다. 하나님의 사랑이 없으면 하나님 안에 거하는 믿는 자가 아닙니다. 사랑은 율법의 완성입니다(롬13:10). 사랑이 있을 때 두려움이 없습니다(요일4:17-18). 예수님을 믿으면 그의 마음을 품어야 합니다(빌2:15). 예수님의 마음은 사랑의 마음이 아니겠습니까?(요13:34-35). 이러한 예수님의 마음을 가지고 사랑의 결핍을 회개할 때 하나님의 응답이 주어지는 것입니다.

The Word of Life

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

It is truly a great blessing that we have God as the subject of our faith. Moreover, the fact that God is the creator of all mankind is of reassurance to us. However, it is a major problem if our prayers aren’t answered even though we believe in such a God. Then what is the reason a saints prayer isn’t answered?

First, a prayer isn’t answered when one doesn’t regard the Word as worthy. We are committing the sin of not considering the Word of God for what it’s worth when we can’t believe the Word as it is and if we don’t treat the Word as the Word should be treated. God has promised us that He will bless us with the power and authority to overcome the evil if we believe His Word, the Word of God as it is and receive it with faith (Deut 28:1-14). Conversely, if we ignore this Word and don’t believe and live according to the Word, then all things will result in failure (Deut 28:15-60).

Furthermore, God said that to such people He would pour all the illness of Egypt upon them. God will definitely answer our prayers if we don’t consider the Word unworthy and only believe the Word with ‘Amen’ and try to become the fruit of the Word.

Second, if we don’t repent our prayers will not be answered. We cannot enter heaven without solving the problem of sin. The first calling of John the Baptist and Jesus is evidence that it was a call urging repentance in order to solve the problem of sin (Matt 3:2, 4, 17). Job also referred to the problem of sin by asking the question, “who has fallen without sin?” Therefore, without repenting there is no answer and we cannot know the will of God, but when we repent a better day is promised to us (Acts 3:19).

Third, there is no answer if we don’t love. If we don’t have the love of God then we aren’t believers of God who remain in Him. Love is the completion of the law (Rom 13:10). When there is love there is no fear (1 John 4:17-18). If we believe Jesus we need to retain the heart of Jesus (Phil 2:15). Isn’t the heart of Jesus the heart of love? (1 John 13:34-35). When we retain the heart of Jesus and repent the lack of love within us, God will answer our prayers.
