말씀을 따라 믿고 행하기만 하면

(창26:12-15)

생명의 말씀

“이삭이 그 땅에서 농사하여 그 해에 백배나 얻었고 여호와께서 복을 주시므로 그 사람이 창대하고 왕성하여 마침내 거부가 되어 양과 소가 떼를 이루고 노복이 심히 많으므로 블레셋 사람이 그를 시기하여 그 아비 아브라함 때에 그 아비의 종들이 판 모든 우물을 막고 흙으로 메웠더라”

하나님께서는 말씀을 따라 믿고 행하기만 하면 범사에 복을 주심을 알 수 있습니다. 애굽에 내려가지 말라는 하나님의 말씀에 순종한 이삭이 우물을 파는 곳마다 샘물이 터져 나오고, 가뭄 때에 100배나 되는 수확의 축복을 받은 것이 이를 입증해 주고 있습니다.

광야 여정 중에 이스라엘 백성들은 오로지 하나님의 명령대로 움직이고 순종했습니다. 자신들의 판단이 아니라 하나님께서 구름기둥으로 인도하실 때 구름이 머무르면 백성들도 머물고 구름이 일어나 이동할 때면 백성들도 그 구름을 따라 움직였던 것입니다. 이는 한마디로 묵은 땅을 기경하는 심령으로 말씀이 이루어질 때까지 기다리며 자기의 의를 심고 긍휼을 소망했던 것입니다.

오늘 본문을 볼 때 목축업을 하는 이삭에게 있어서 우물은 생명과도 같은 것입니다. 우물을 파기 위해서는 많은 노력과 끈기가 필요합니다. 그러므로 블레셋 사람들이 연달아 세 개씩이나 우물을 메웠음에도 불구하고 그들을 향해 불평하거나 다투지 않고 또다시 우물을 팠습니다. 이는 많은 환난 가운데서도 신앙의 끈기와 용기를 가지고 ‘내 마음을 기경한다’는 믿음으로 끝까지 달려간 결과입니다. 호10:12절 말씀을 보면 “너희 묵은 땅을 기경하라”고 하였습니다. 그러면 여호와께서 임하사 의를 비처럼 내리십니다. 렘4:4절에도 이와 유사한 내용이 나옵니다. 이를 볼 때 이삭은 용기와 도전, 끈기와 절대 신앙을 가졌기 때문에 방해하는 자들과 싸우지 않았습니다.

마5:5절에 보면 온유한 자가 받는 복은 땅을 차지한다고 하였습니다. 이 말씀처럼 이삭은 온유한 심령으로 굳건하게 자신의 길을 걸어갈 때 ‘르호봇’이라는 넓은 지경의 우물과 100배의 축복을 받았던 것입니다.

<기도제목>

오직 말씀에 순종하여 나아갈 때 이삭이 백배의 수확을 얻고 거부가 되었던 것처럼 믿는 성도의 삶은 오직 말씀의 뜻을 따르는 길이어야 합니다. 오늘 하루도 이삭과 같이 뜻에 순종하는 삶을 살 수 있도록 기도하십시오.

The word of life

"Now Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. And the LORD blessed him, and the man became rich, and continued to grow richer until he became very wealthy; for he had possessions of flocks and herds and a great household, so that the Philistines envied him. Now all the wells which his father's servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines stopped up by filling them with earth."(Genesis 26:12-15)

We know that God will bless us when we follow and act on the word. Isaac obeyed God by not going to Egypt and God blessed him by having the wells that he dug gush out with water. After he sowed the land, he reaped in the same year hundredfold.

In the wilderness, the Israelites obeyed by moving according to God’s command. It was not their decisions, but when the pillar of cloud stopped, they stopped and when the pillar of cloud moved, they moved. In other words, they were like dry land eagerly waiting for God’s mercy to bestow on them.

In the scripture reading, the wells that Isaac dug were like lifelines. Lot of effort and endurance were needed to dig the well. When the Philistines took Isaac’s wells, he did not complain, but began to dig for other wells. Even among tribulations, his faith persevered and was confident to continue. He said, he is plowing his heart. Hosea 10:12 states, Break up your fallow ground. Then God will rain His righteousness on us. There is similar content in Jeremiah 4:4.

Isaac had confidence and faced his challenge. His tenacity and true faith stopped him from quarreling with the Philistines.

Matthew 5:5 states, Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. When Isaac was gentile and walked a reliable road, he was received a well and named it Rehoboth and was blessed hundredfold.

"Prayer Request"

Only when we obey the word, we are blessed like Isaac with hundredfold riches. Let us pray that we can obey like Isaac and live our life by following God’s will.
