약속을 믿고 의지하면

창26:12-15

생명의 말씀

“이삭이 그 땅에서 농사하여 그 해에 백배나 얻었고 여호와께서 복을 주시므로 그 사람이 창대하고 왕성하여 마침내 거부가 되어 양과 소가 떼를 이루고 노복이 심히 많으므로 블레셋 사람이 그를 시기하여 그 아비 아브라함 때에 그 아비의 종들이 판 모든 우물을 막고 흙으로 메웠더라”

이삭은 하나님의 약속을 믿고 의지했습니다. 그 말씀에 순종했습니다. 그 결과 100배나 되는 큰 축복을 받았던 것입니다. 하나님께서 함께 하신다고 할 때 “그렇지. 놓치지 않겠다. 결코 그 약속의 말씀으로부터 떨어지지 않겠다”하는 믿음으로 아침부터 저녁까지 하나님과 동행하는 삶을 살았습니다. 그리하여 마지막으로 ‘르호봇’이란 이름의 우물을 얻게 됐습니다. ‘르호봇’이란 이름의 뜻은 ‘넓게 해주다’입니다. “내가 너와 함께 있어 네게 복을 주어 네 자손으로 번성케 하리라”(창26:24). 같은 기후조건에 같은 지역임에도 불구하고 하나님께서 함께해 주시니 남들보다 100배나 더하는 수확을 얻었습니다. 이처럼 성경은 받은 바 은혜에 감사할 때 범사에 축복이 임하게 된다고 말씀하고 있습니다.

시116:12절 말씀을 보면 “내가 하나님 앞에 받은 은혜를 무엇으로 보답할꼬” 하였습니다. 그것은 다름 아닌 ‘감사’의 마음입니다(시50:23). 감사로 제사를 드리는 것이 하나님을 영화롭게 하기 때문입니다. 공동번역에는 “사람이 하나님 앞에 바친 제물은 감사하는 마음이요 사람이 지킬 것은 지존하신 분에게 서원한 것을 갚는 것이라”하였습니다. 금년 한 해 이삭과 같이 하나님의 약속의 말씀을 믿고 굳세게 전진하는 성도님들이 되시길 바랍니다.

올 한 해 우리는 계속해서 우물을 파야 합니다. 중간에 어떤 방해하는 무리가 나타나 방해하고 파놓은 우물을 매우며 훼방한다 할지라도 중단하면 안됩니다. 우물을 파되 말씀의 우물, 기도의 우물, 전도의 우물을 많이 파야합니다. 파다가 힘들다고 도망가선 안됩니다. 그럴수록 인내의 우물을 파고 남을 사랑하는 우물을 파야 됩니다. 그래야 축복의 넓은 우물 ‘르호봇’에서 생수가 터져 나오는 것입니다.

오늘 하루 여러분은 어떤 우물을 파고 있습니까? 주변의 시기와 반대가 심하다 해도 이삭처럼 굴하지 않고 소망 가운데 우물을 팔 때 르호봇과 같은 축복이 임하도록 기도하십시오.

When You Believe and Trust in the Promise

(Genesis 26:12-15)

The word of life

"Now Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. And the LORD blessed him, and the man became rich, and continued to grow richer until he became very wealthy; for he had possessions of flocks and herds and a great household, so that the Philistines envied him. Now all the wells which his father's servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines stopped up by filling them with earth."

Isaac believed and trusted in God’s promise. He obeyed the word and God rewarded him with hundredfold blessings. When God told Isaac that He would not leave him, his heart focused on sticking to the promise. He lived with God from morning to night. Finally, God gave him a well named Rehoboth, which translates to “be enlarged”. God told Isaac, Do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you, and multiply your descendants (Genesis 26:24). Even with same natural conditions and resources, when God was Isaac his land reaped hundredfold. The Bible tells us God blesses us when we are grateful for His grace.

Psalms 116:12 states, What shall I render to the LORD For all His benefits toward me? This statement can only come from a grateful heart (Psalms 50:23). When you offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving, you are honoring God. In another translation, it states when you offer God thanksgiving you are fulfilling your role and repaying your debts. As you stand with the word this year, may you receive the hundredfold blessing like Isaac.

This year we need to continue to dig the well. We may face obstacles to hinder us from digging the wells, but we need to push on. These wells are wells of the word, prayer, and evangelism. You must not flee when you are exhausting from digging. The more you endure as you dig the wells, you are digging the well of love. Then we can receive a well named Rehoboth where spring water gushes out.

What wells are you digging today? While you may face jealousy and opposition, be like Isaac who did not give up but kept the hope to continue to dig. Finally, he was blessed with a well named Rehoboth.
