장래 소망이 끊어지지 않는 복

잠24:13-14

생명의 말씀

“내 아들아 꿀을 먹으라 이것이 좋으니라 송이 꿀을 먹으라 이것이 네 입에 다니라 지혜가 네 영혼에게 이와 같은 줄을 알라 이것을 얻으면 정녕히 네 장래가 있겠고 네 소망이 끊어지지 아니하리라”

꿀은 굉장히 단 음식일뿐 아니라 눈을 밝게 해주고 심장을 튼튼하게 해주며 몸에 열을 발산하도록 하는 기능을 하는 일종의 보약과 같은 음식입니다. 그래서 성경에서 꿀은 자주 하나님의 말씀이나 지혜를 가리키는 상징으로 사용된 것입니다.

오늘 본문에서도 잠언 기자는 우리에게 ‘꿀과 송이꿀’을 먹으라고 권면하고 있습니다. 꿀을 먹을 때 몸에 열이 나고 뜨거워지듯 하나님의 말씀의 꿀을 먹은 사람은 가만히 있지 못합니다. 안에서 뿜어내는 뜨거운 열기로 인해 미친 듯이 움직이며 일하게 만드는 것입니다. 성경을 볼 때, 엠마오로 가던 두 제자가 예수님으로부터 말씀을 받는 순간 마음이 뜨거워져 다시 예루살렘으로 되돌아 갔던 것처럼(눅24:31-32) 하나님의 말씀의 은혜를 깨달은 사람들은 마음이 뜨거워지고 눈이 밝아져 힘차게 말씀을 증거하면서 살아가게 됩니다. 예레미야 선지자도 “내가 주의 말씀을 얻어 먹었사오니 주의 말씀은 내게 기쁨과 내 마음의 즐거움”(렘15:16)이라고 고백하고 있지 않습니까?

이처럼 꿀을 먹은 사람은 마음 속에 뜨거운 은혜의 체험이 있기에 삶에 활력을 얻게 됩니다. 마음이 즐겁고 기쁩니다. 영혼이 소성하고 지혜가 샘솟듯 솟아납니다. 또한 눈과 귀가 밝아져서 하나님께서 원하시는 선한 일을 할 수 있는 능력자들이 되는 것입니다. 장래가 있고 소망이 끊어지지 않는 축복을 받게 됩니다. 여기서 말하는 ‘장래 소망’이란 형통케될 미래의 소망을 의미합니다. 꿀과 송이꿀같은 말씀을 받아 먹음으로 2012년 새해도 “네가 어디로 가든지 너를 복주겠다”(수1:7-8) 하신 형통의 축복이 이루어지길 바랍니다.

꿀과 송이꿀 같은 하나님의 말씀을 받아먹는 2012년도가 되어서 나 자신뿐 아니라 평강의 성도 모든 가정과 자녀들을 말씀 안에서 제자 삼고 아브라함과 같이 하나님의 의와 공도를 좇는 삶을 살기를 원합니다. 금년 한 해 이처럼 멋진 신앙의 삶을 살 수 있기를 위해 기도하십시오.

The Blessing That Doesn’t Cut off The Hope of The Future

Proverbs 24:13-14

The Word of Life

“Eat honey, my son, for it is good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste. Know also that wisdom is like honey for you: If you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.”

Honey is not only a very sweet food product but it is also a type of health food that improves eyesight, strengthens the heart and enables the body to exert heat.

Therefore, honey is used refer to as a symbol of God’s Word and wisdom.

In today’s main scripture, the author of Proverbs is rebuking us to eat the honey and the honeycomb. Just like our bodies heat up when we eat honey, the person who eats the honey of the Word of God cannot remain still and the heat that arises from within them drives their toil and work. Just like the two disciples in the bible who were going to Emmaus who returned to Jerusalem after their hearts heated up the moment they received the Word from Jesus (Luke 24:31-32), the person who realizes the grace of the Word of God has a heart that is on fire and eyes that are brightened and live a life of testifying the Word. The prophet Jeremiah confessed that “when your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight” (Jer 15:16).

Like this confession, the person who eats the honey will experience a heart that is on fire with grace and will be able to gain vitality in their life. Their heart will be joyous and happy. Their spirit will be strengthened and wisdom will shoot up like the spring waters. Furthermore, their eyes and ears will be enlightened so that they can become a person who has the full capacity to

carry out the good will of God. They will receive the blessing that doesn’t cut off the hope of their future. Here “future hope” symbolizes the hope of a successful future. By receiving and eating the Word that is like honey and honeycomb in 2012, may the blessing of prosperity mentioned in Joshua 1:7-8 “that you may be successful wherever you go” will be fulfilled.  

 Prayer title

In 2012, may it be a year we receive and digest the Word of God that is like honey and honeycomb so that we as individuals and all the saints of Pyungkang Cheil church; their households and extended families and children become disciples within the Word and like Abraham live a life that races toward righteousness and justice. Please pray that this year you may be able to lead a successful spiritual life.
