인생의 동반자

눅24:15-35

생명의 말씀

“저희가 서로 이야기하며 문의할 때에 예수께서 가까이 이르러 저희와 동행하시나 저희의 눈이 가리워져서 그인줄 알아보지 못하거늘...(:15-16)”

“인생은 나그네 길 어디서 왔다가 어디로 가는가 구름이 흘러가듯 떠돌다 가는 길에 정일랑 두지 말자 미련일랑 두지 말라”. 성경뿐 아니라 세상 사람들의 입을 통해서도 인생길은 ‘나그네 여정’임을 노래하고 있습니다. 그렇다면 이 인생 나그네길의 종착점은 어디일까요?

본문 17절 말씀을 보면 엠마오로 가던 제자들의 삶은 슬픔을 안고 사는 삶이었습니다. 그것은 나그네 길의 종착점이 사망이기 때문이요, 이 땅에서 삶 또한 무거운 짐을 짊어지고 사는 삶이기 때문입니다. 그런 의미에서 엠마오의 두 제자의 모습은 또한 각자 나의 모습이기도 합니다.

그러나 이들에게 부활하신 예수님이 나타나셔서 함께 동행해 주셨습니다(:27-29). 사람들의 나그네 여정길에 수많은 동행자가 있지만 그들은 끝까지 나와 함께할 수 없습니다. 친구들과 스승, 제자들, 부모와 자녀, 부부.... 영원한 동행자가 되길 원하는 사람들이지만, 시간이 흘러가면 어느덧 하나 둘씩 죽음이라는 종착점으로 가게 마련입니다. 그러나 부활하신 예수님은 우리의 영원한 동행자가 되어 주십니다. 엠마오로 가던 두 제자들도 부활의 주님께서 동행해 주신 결과 그들의 닫혔던 눈이 뜨이고(:31), 마음 속에 뜨거운 은혜의 온천수가 터져 나오는 체험을 했을 뿐 아니라(:32) 다시 예루살렘으로 돌아가 복음을 증거하는 사명의 삶을 살게 되었습니다(:33-34). 이것이 바로 영원한 동행자 되신 예수님과 동행하는 사람이 받게 되는 축복입니다.

오늘도 좌절과 낙담 속에 힘없이 걸어가던 엠마오의 제자들이 주님과 동행하는 삶을 산 이후로 변화된 모습을 통해 나의 나그네 인생 여정길을 점검해 보시기 바랍니다.

The Word of Life

Luke 24:15 And it came about that while they were conversing and discussing, Jesus Himself approached, and began traveling with them. 16But their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him.

“Life is like walking the path of a sojourner. You come and you go just like the clouds drift along in the winds not knowing where they will end up.” Not only does the bible say this, but even through the mouths of the people in the world, they are singing that, “life is like the journey of a sojourner.” If that’s the case, then where is the last station in our lives?

When we look at verse 17 in the main passage, we can see that the disciples who were on their way to Emmaus were in sadness. Likewise, we have that same appearance because we carry heavy loads as we live on this earth, and not only that but the last station on the path of a sojourner is death. This is a reflection of the appearance of the 2 disciples and also a reflection of us.

However, the resurrected Lord had appeared to the two of them and walked together with them (verses 27-29). There are many people who walk with us on this journey of a sojourner, but they can’t be with you until the very end. We would wish that our friends, teachers, disciples, parents, children or spouses, would be with us forever, however as time goes by we can see that they all gradually come to their final destination of death. However, the resurrected Lord can be our eternal partner in life. The result of the resurrected Lord walking with the two disciples on their way to Emmaus was that their eyes were opened (verse 31). Not only did they experience the waters of the hot springs of grace gush out in their hearts(verse32), they were able to turn back to Jerusalem and live with the task of witnessing the gospel. This is the very blessing that one gets as Jesus becomes our eternal partner in life. As Jesus had walked with the two disciples and changed them from having lost their strength in the midst of despair and discouragement to one of hope and task, let us look and examine our lives today.
