믿음은 영원한 생명과 천국

눅23:32-43

생명의 말씀

골고다 언덕의 세 십자가와 예수님의 좌우편 강도의 이야기는 우리에게 ‘심판과 구원’에 관한 교훈을 말해주고 있습니다. 즉 사람에겐 반드시 심판이 있다는 것입니다(히9:27). 지옥에 가든, 천국에 가든, 중요한 것은 사람은 자기를 향해 달려오는 죽음을 피할 수 없다는 것입니다. 그러나 똑같은 죄인이었지만 우편 강도는 마지막 심판의 순간에 그리스도를 믿음으로 지옥이 아니라 낙원에 인도되는 축복을 받았습니다. 이것이 골고다 언덕에서의 하이라이트입니다. 죽을 죄인이 구원을 받았습니다. 예수님은 그의 과거의 죄를 묻지 않고 현재에 주어질 낙원의 축복만을 언급하셨습니다.

이 세상에 의인은 없습니다. 모두 죄인입니다. 그러면 죄는 어디서 올까요? 죄를 지어서 죄인이 아니라 재판을 받고 유죄판결을 받아야 죄인이 됩니다. 하나님 앞에서 심판을 받으면 그 누구도 죄 없는 자가 없습니다. 그러나 하나님의 축복은 우리의 죄를 심문하지 않고 판단하지 않으심으로 죄인이지만 죄인이라 선언하지 않는 것입니다. 죄인이라는 선언이 없으면 심판도 없고, 심판이 없으면 죽음도 없습니다. 영원한 생명과 천국이 있을 따름입니다. 그것이 우편강도에게 주어진 축복입니다.

그러므로 오늘 본문은 천국이 죄 없는 자만 가는 곳이 아님을 말해줍니다. 오히려 온갖 죄인들, 세리, 창녀, 살인강도질을 한 흉악한 죄인들이 천국에 들어가고 있음을 증거해주고 있지 않습니까? 저들은 죄인이었으나 죄를 자복하고 회개하고 예수를 믿음으로 심판을 받지 않아 의롭게 인정되어 천국에 들어간 것입니다. 그러므로 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 자에게는 결코 정죄함이 없습니다. 심판이 없으므로 정죄도 없는 것입니다(롬5:8). 그들에게 영원한 생명의 축복을 주십니다. 주님의 우편에서 죄를 가리움받은 여러분 같은 성도들에게 말입니다.

우편강도가 축복받은 비결은 십자가상에서 죽어가는 절박한 상황에서도 자신의 죄를 회개하고 주님을 변론한데 있는것처럼, 오늘 하루 우편강도와 같은 믿음으로 철저한 회개를 통해 천국 문을 붙잡는 한날이 될 수 있도록 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

The story of the three cross and the criminals on the right and left of Jesus on the hill of Golgotha teaches us a lesson on ‘judgment and redemption.’ Mankind is subject to judgment (Heb 9:27). Whether we go to hell or heaven, the fact of the matter is, man can’t get away from death. However, the criminal on the right was given the blessing of not going to hell but entering paradise because he believed in Jesus at the moment his crucifixion. This is the highlight of what happened on the hill of Golgotha. A sinner bound to death was saved. Jesus did not mention the sins of his past but only mentioned the present blessing of entering paradise.

There is no righteous person on this earth. Everyone is a sinner. Then where does sin come from? You are a sinner not because you sinned but because you pleaded guilty to the sin. No one is without sin when they face God’s judgment. However, the blessing is, God does not ask nor judge our sins and even though we are sinners, he does not condemn us as sinners. When we are not condemned as sinners, there is no judgment, and when there is no judgment, there is no death. There is only eternal life and heaven. This is the blessing that was given to the criminal on the right.

Through the passage we learn that heaven is not a place where only people without sin go. Rather, is it not showing us that all kinds of sinners, tax collectors, prostitutes, and criminals who murdered and robbed enter heaven? They were sinners but confessed their sins and repented and believed in Jesus. As a result, they did not receive judgment but were acknowledged as righteous and entered heaven. Therefore, people who are in Jesus have no condemnation. Because there is no judgment, there is no condemnation (Rom 5:8). To those people, the blessing of eternal life is given. Like us, saints, who have had our sins covered up.

The secret behind the blessing that was given to the criminal on the right was in the repentance of his sin and defending Jesus when death was imminent on the cross. Likewise today we must pray with the heart of the criminal on the right, repenting earnestly, so we can grab hold onto the door of heaven.
