목요일 - 고민의 날

생명의 말씀

“조금 나아가사 얼굴을 땅에 대시고 엎드려 기도하여 가라사대 내 아버지여 만일 할만하시거든 이 잔을 내게서 지나가게 하옵소서 그러나 나의 원대로 마옵시고 아버지의 원대로 하옵소서”

여러분은 혹시 가장 사랑하는 사람으로부터 배신의 아픔을 겪어본 적이 있습니까? 예수님께선 십자가에 못 박히기 전에 사랑하는 제자로부터 먼저 배신의 못 박힘을 당하셨습니다. 유다의 배신을 알면서도 끝까지 사랑해주시고, 회계를 맡기시고, 수많은 기사이적과 생명의 말씀을 들을 기회를 허락하셨습니다. 그럼에도 유다는 끝까지 물질에 눈이 어두워 제자가 스승을, 피조물이 창조주를 죽음에 내어주는 죄를 범하고 말았습니다. “나와 함께 떡 그릇에 손을 넣는 자가 나를 팔자다”. 주님의 경고와 회개의 기회를 받고도 무시하며 떡 그릇에 손을 넣음으로 죄의 길에서 돌이키지 못하고, 검과 몽치 등 병기(마26:47,요18:3)로 무장한 많은 무리들을 이끌고 와서 사랑의 표시인 입맞춤을 살인의 표시로 변질시켜 스승을 원수에게 넘겨준 가룟 유다! 창조주이신 주님이 당하는 이 배신의 아픔은 어떠했겠습니까?

십자가를 하루 앞둔 목요일은 주님께서 이처럼 가룟 유다로 인해, 다가오는 십자가로 인해 고민과 번민으로 보내셔야 했던 고통의 날이었습니다. 당신의 살과 피를 내주는 심령으로 최후의 만찬을 준비하여 제자들에게 떼어 주었건만 유다는 떡 조각만 받아먹은 채 스승을 팔러 제 갈 길로 가고, 나머지 제자들은 ‘누가 크냐?’ 공 다툼에 혈안이 되어 있으니 누구 하나 주님의 그 아픈 마음, 십자가를 바라보며 고민 속에 겟세마네로 올라가 “내 마음이 심히 고민하여 죽게 되었다”(:38) 외치시는 주님 심정을 헤아렸습니까? 그럼에도 주님은 친히 허리를 굽히셔서 냄새나는 제자들의 발을 씻기시며 당신의 고통을 이기셨습니다(요13:4-11). 엄습해오는 죽음의 공포, 그래서 “아버지여 이 잔을 내게서 옮기시옵소서”(막14:36) 애원하시던 주님. 그러나 그 죽음의 공포보다 더한 것은 이 땅에 누구 하나 당신의 심정 알아주는 이 없고, 생명의 말씀 주목하여 받는 이 없는 불신의 장벽! 오직 주님 홀로 “아버지의 원대로 하옵소서” 맡기는 기도로 십자가 지시니 비로소 구원의 문이 열렸습니다.

십자가를 목전에 두고 고민하시는 주님의 심정은 아랑곳 없이 제 갈 길만을 가기에 바빴던 제자들의 부족한 모습까지 걸머지고, 겟세마네 최후의 기도의 전쟁터에 주님과 함께 깨어서 승리하는 한 날이 되기를 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

Have you ever experienced the pain of betrayal from a loved one? Jesus was crucified with betrayal from one of his disciples before he was even crucified on the cross. Although Jesus knew Judah’s betrayal he loved him until the end, trusting him with the task of accountancy and allowed him the opportunity to see many miraculous works and hear the Word of life. However, Judah’s eyes were blinded by the materialistic things and he eventually committed the sin of passing the creator into the hands of death.

“The one who dips bread into the bowl with me will betray me”. Judah ignored the Lord’s warning and the opportunity to repent and proceeded to put his hands into the bowl. He could not go back from the path of sin and brought with him a large crowd armed with swords and clubs and kissed Jesus him as a sign to indicate murder and gave his teacher into the hands of the enemy. How painful would this betrayal be for the Lord our creator?

Thursday, a day before the cross was a day spent with agony and anguish for the Lord because of Judas Iscariot and the coming crucifixion. Jesus prepared the last supper with the heart to give up his own flesh and blood for his disciples however after Judas took the bread and ate he left to sell his teacher and the other disciples were in a mad debate over whose deed was greater. Have you thought about Jesus’ heart that was in pain and agony going up to Mount Gethsemane that he cried out “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death”? (Mark 14:38). Even through this the Lord overcame his pain by humbling himself to wash the feet of the disciples (John13:4-11).

The Lord cried out “Father, take this cup from me” (Mark 14:36) in fear of his coming death. However, more than fear of death was the wall of disbelief that was presented before him and nobody on this earth acknowledged his heart nor did they pay attention in receiving the Word of life. Only by Jesus carrying the cross through prayer “Father, your will be done” that the door of salvation was opened.

Prayer Title

Pray that you will be awake with Jesus in Gethsemane, the final battleground of prayer by carrying the iniquities of the disciples who did not even consider the heart of the Lord and went their own ways.
