우리의 의롭다 하심을 위하여

롬4:25

생명의 말씀

“예수는 우리 범죄함을 위하여 내어줌이 되고 또한 우리를 의롭다 하심을 위하여 살아나셨느니라”

예수님의 십자가 공로는 우리에게 당신의 의를 전가시켜 주는 효과를 가져왔습니다. 그러므로 예수 믿는 성도의 가장 큰 행복은 일한 것이 없이 하나님께 의로 여기심을 받는 것입니다. 사도바울은 다윗의 말을 인용하여 롬4:6절에서 이를 언급하고 있습니다. 불법을 사함을 받고 그 죄를 가리움을 받는 가운데 주께서 그 죄를 인정치 아니하시고 우리를 의롭다 인정해 주셨기 때문입니다(롬4:7-11). 그러나 우리의 죄가 사함받고 그리스도의 의를 전가받기까지는 우리를 위해 말할 수 없는 수난을 당하신 주님의 고난이 있었던 것입니다.

이사야 선지자는 우리에게 의를 전가시켜 주시기 위한 주님의 대속의 역사를 상세하게 묘사하고 있습니다. 3인칭 대명사 ‘그’로 지칭된 주님은 이사야 53장에서 49번이나 언급되면서 온 인류의 죄와 허물을 대신 짊어지고 고난을 당하셨습니다. 그는 우리의 질고를 지고 슬픔을 당하셨고(사53:4), 그가 찔렸고, 상함을 입었고 징계를 받으며 채찍에 맞기까지 하였습니다(사53:5).

이사야 선지자는 이러한 주님을 ‘간고’를 많이 겪으신 분으로 소개하고 있습니다. ‘간고’를 겪었다는 것은 우리의 질고와 연약함을 짊어지는 것을 말합니다. 나아가 주님은 자신을 비우고 낮아지셨습니다. 하나님과 동등됨을 취하지 아니하고 자기를 비워 종의 형체를 입으시되 죽기까지, 십자가의 길까지 낮아지셨습니다(빌2:6-8). 십자가에서 당신의 물과 피를 다 내어주시고, 생명을 내어주셨다가 우리를 의롭다 하시기 위해 다시 살아나셨습니다(롬4:25). 또한 주님은 내 죄로 인해 찔림을 받았습니다. 채찍과 가시 면류관의 찔림은 사실 나의 죄를 찌르는 찔림입니다. 이러한 고통의 짐을 짊어지심으로 주님은 우리에게 당신의 의를 전가시켜 주셨습니다. 주의 죽으심과 부활하심은 곧 나를 의롭다 인쳐주시는 과정입니다.

우리를 의롭다 인정해 주시기 위해 말할 수 없는 고난과 질고를 기꺼이 담당하시 자신을 비워 우리의 생명이 되어주신 주님의 발자취를 깨닫고, 은혜에 감사하며 보답할 수 있도록 기도하십시오.

For Our Justification

Romans 4:25

The Word of Life

"He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification."

Jesus came with the power to make us righteous through the cross. Therefore, the greatest joy for Christians is when God acknowledges us as righteous. Apostle Paul used words of King David in Romans 4:6 to teach about righteousness. God has forgiven our lawless deeds and does not take our sins into account (Romans 4:7-11). However, before our sins were forgiven and before we were accredited as righteous, Jesus endured the unthinkable suffering for us.

Prophet Isaiah describes the suffering that Jesus endured in order for us to be accredited as righteous. The third person “He” appears 49 times in Isaiah 53 and represents the sins that Jesus bore along with pain He endured. He bore our grieves and carried our sorrows (Isaiah 53:4). He was pierced, crushed, chastened, and scourged (Isaiah 53:5).

Prophet Isaiah introduces Jesus as one who has many “sorrows”. Jesus, “a man of sorrows” shows how He bore our grieves and weaknesses. Jesus emptied and lowered Himself. He “did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant” (Philippians 2:6-8) to death. He lowered Himself to take on the road of the cross. Jesus gave up all His blood and water at the cross, gave up His life, made us righteous and rose again (Romans 4:25). He also was pierced through for our transgressions. When He was pierced by the thorns of the crown – it was our sins that pierced Him. He took the burden of pain to accredit us as righteous. Jesus’ death and resurrection were the process that accredited us as righteous.

"Prayer Request"

Jesus endured the unspeakable suffering and grief in order to accredit us as righteous. He emptied Himself and became our life. Let us pray that we can understand Jesus’ footsteps and be grateful for His grace.
