영혼이 먹는 물

사58:11

생명의 말씀

“나 여호와가 너를 항상 인도하여 마른 곳에서도 네 영혼을 만족케 하며 네 뼈를 견고케 하리니 너는 물 댄 동산 같겠고 물이 끊어지지 아니하는 샘 같을 것이라”

물은 사람의 신진대사에서 없어서는 안될 필수 요소입니다. 그러므로 물은 생명유지의 제1우위를 차지하고 있습니다. 사람뿐 아니라 모든 물체가 물 없이 이루어진게 없을 정도입니다. 한마디로 자연 만물은 물로 되어있기에 물은 만물의 근원이라 해도 과언이 아닙니다. 동물의 세포와 식물의 조직, 광물의 결정도 물이 없이는 존재할 수 없습니다. 그러나 이 땅은 물로만 해결되는 것이 아니고, 사람은 물만으로 결코 만족할 수 없습니다. 왜냐하면 사람은 영적인 존재이기에 영혼이 먹는 물이 있기 때문입니다.

예수님은 우물 가에서 수가성 여인을 만나 대화하는 가운데 영원히 목마름이 없는 ‘영혼의 물’이 있음을 언급하고 있습니다. 그 물은 “영원히 목마르지 아니하는 물”로서 “영생하도록 솟아나는 샘물”입니다(요4:12-13). 세상의 물은 아무리 마셔도 다시 갈증을 느끼지만 주께서 주시는 영원한 생수의 물은 다시 목마름이 없는 영혼의 물입니다. 이를 모세는 하나님의 말씀(교훈)에 비유하고 있습니다. 즉, 하나님의 말씀(교훈)은 “맺히는 이슬이요 연한 풀 위에 가는 비요 채소 위에 단 비”로서 사람의 육신이 아니라 영혼이 먹어야 하는 물입니다.

육신의 갈증보다 더욱 심각한 것은 영혼의 갈증입니다. 아모스는 장차 종말에 여호와의 말씀을 듣지 못하는 영적 갈증의 시대가 올 것을 이미 예언하고 있습니다(암8:11). 이 영적 갈증의 때 우리 성도는 하나님의 신령한 구원의 우물에서 물을 길어 영혼의 목을 축여야 합니다(사12:3). 생수의 근원 되시는 하나님(렘2:13)께 나아와 기쁨으로 구원의 우물물을 길어 먹을 때 영혼의 갈증이 해결될뿐 아니라 모든 생활에 목마름이 없는 풍요의 축복을 누리게 됩니다. 이러한 성도의 영혼은 ‘물댄 동산’ 같아서 결코 근심이 없습니다(렘31:12). 물이 끊어지지 않는 샘과 같은 축복을 받게 됩니다(사58:11).

<기도제목>

사람은 영적인 존재이기 때문에 육신의 갈증뿐 아니라 영혼의 갈함을 해결해주는 참된 생명수의 물을 받아 먹어야 합니다. 비와 이슬을 내려주듯 오늘도 나의 삶 속에 허락하시는 이러한 생명수의 축복을 먹고 마시는 삶을 위해 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

"And the LORD will continually guide you, And satisfy your desire in scorched places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.

Water represents life for nature and has the mysterious power to purify and create. Furthermore, water has an important role in our body – it spreads energy throughout our body. Water enables our body to receive nutrition in Water is an essential element for people’s survival. Therefore, life needs water to exist. Water does not only apply to people, all living things need it. Creation was created by water so it is the source of creation and without it we there will be no living things. However, water is not the answer to everything. People are not satisfied by just water, our spirit is thirsting for the spiritual water.

Jesus explained to the Samaritan woman at the well about the “spiritual water” where people will never thirst. This water will have “people never thirst” but “spring up eternal life” (John 4:12-13). When you drink water, you may still be thirsty; but the spiritual water that Jesus gives will make you never thirst. Moses compared water to God’s words (teachings). He said that let God’s words (teachings) “drops as rain, speech distill as the dew, and as the droplets on the fresh grass. The spirit needs to drink up these words.

Spiritual thirst is more important than bodily thirst. Prophet Amos prophesied about a time when there will be a famine of God’s word (Amos 8:11). Before this time arrives, we need to joyously draw water from the springs of salvation (Isaiah 12:3). Come before God, who is the fountain of living waters (Jeremiah 2:13), then your thirst will be eternally quenched and your life will be tremendously blessed. Your spirit will be “watered garden” and without any worries (Jeremiah 31:12). The spring of water will never be cut off (Isaiah 58:11)

"Prayer Request"

People are made up of spirit, so we have a spiritual thirst where we are seeking spiritual water. Let us pray that we can eat and drink of the spiritual water as it drops like rain and dew
