하나님이 기뻐하시는 부흥하는 교회

행10:44-46

생명의 말씀

“베드로가 이 말할 때에 성령이 말씀 듣는 모든 사람에게 내려오시니 베드로와 함께 온 할례 받은 신자들이 이방인들에게도 성령 부어주심을 인하여 놀라니 이는 방언을 말하며 하나님 높임을 들음이러라”

하나님께서 기뻐하시는 부흥하는 교회, 하나님께서 인정하시는 믿음있는 성도는 어떠한 사람일까요? 사도행전 10장에 나오는 고넬료 가정의 성령체험 사건을 살펴볼 때 다음과 같은 세 가지 조건을 구비한 개인이나 교회를 하나님께서는 기뻐하시고 축복하십니다.

첫째, 믿음이 있는 교회(개인)입니다. 신약성경에서 특출난 믿음으로 예수님의 칭찬을 받은 ‘로마 군인 백부장’을 들 수 있습니다. 그는 예수를 만나 자기의 하인의 병을 고쳐달라고 요구합니다. 그 말을 들은 예수께서 하인을 고쳐주기 위해 백부장의 집으로 가려할 때 “주여 내 집에 들어오심을 나는 감당치 못하겠사오니 다만 말씀으로만 하옵소서 그러면 내 하인이 낫겠삽나이다”(마8:8)라고 간청했습니다. 이 얼마나 놀라운 믿음입니까? 예수님도 “이스라엘 중 아무에게서도 이만한 믿음을 만나보지 못하였노라”(마8:10)고 그 믿음을 칭찬하셨습니다. 이와같이 ‘믿음’은 하나님을 기쁘시게 합니다.

둘째, 예배와 모이기를 힘쓰는 교회(개인)입니다. 말세의 증상 중에 하나는 모이기를 폐하려는 것입니다. 그래서 히브리서 기자는 모이기를 폐하는 어떤 사람들의 습관과 같이 하지 말고 “오직 권하여 그날이 가까움을 볼수록 더욱 그리하자”(히10:25)라고 격려하고 있습니다. 교회에 모여서 예배드리며, “더불어 마음을 같이하여 전혀 기도에 힘쓸 때”(행1:14) 부흥하게 됩니다. 고넬료 가정도 그 집에 모여 베드로를 초청하여 간절히 말씀에 주목할 때 성령이 임함으로 구원을 얻게 되었던 것입니다.

셋째, 성령을 충만히 받은 교회(개인)입니다. 다락방에 120문도가 모여 합심하여 기도할 때 성령이 비둘기처럼 임하였고, 성령을 받을 때 예수의 마음을 품어 새롭게 변화될 수 있습니다. 하나님께서 직접 주시는 성령세례를 통해 마음이 뜨거워지며, 영혼이 맑아집니다. 그래서 사도바울은 “오직 성령의 충만을 받으라”(엡5:18)고 권면하고 있습니다.

하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 성도가 되길 원하십니까? 성령충만을 받아 변화되길 원하십니까? 그렇다면 하나님의 말씀을 온전히 믿고 열심히 교회를 사모하며 모이기에 힘쓰시고, 이를 이루기 위해 간절히 기도하십시오.

Acts 10:44-46

The Word of Life

44While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles. 46For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.

What kind of church is a church that God is please with and what kind of saint is a saint that God acknowledges as a faithful believer? When we observe the Cornelius’ family experiencing the Holy Spirit, we can concur that God is pleased with and blesses the individual and church that possesses the following three conditions.

First, it is the church or individual who has faith. For example in the New Testament we see the centurion of the Roman soldiers who was commended by Jesus for his outstanding faith. He meets Jesus and asks Jesus to heal his servant’s illness. When Jesus heard his request and was about to go to the centurion’s house he said “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed” (Matt 8:8). How amazing is this faith? When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith” (Matt 8:10). Such faith pleases God.

Second, it is the church or individual who strives to gather. One of the symptoms of the end times is that churches and individuals are discontinuing gatherings therefore the author of Hebrews is encouraging us in Hebrews 10:25 to “not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching”. When we gather at the church and worship “and join together constantly in prayer” (Acts 1:14) a revival will come upon the church. When Cornelius and his household gathered in their home and invited Peter and earnestly concentrated on the Word the Holy Spirit came upon them and they were able to receive salvation.

Third, it is the church and individual who have fully received the Holy Spirit. When the 12 disciples gathered in the upper room and prayed as one the Holy Spirit came upon them like a dove and when they received the Holy Spirit, they were able to carry within them the heart of Jesus and become renewed. Through the baptism of the Holy Spirit that God Himself gives, our heart becomes fervent and our spirits become clear thus in Ephesians 5:18 the apostle Paul is rebuking us to “only be filled with the Holy Spirit”.

Do you want to become a saint that pleases God? Do you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit and change? Then completely believe in the Word of God, yearning for the church and in gathering and pray in order for these things to be fulfilled.
