말세 성도의 올바른 처신

살전5:8

생명의 말씀

“우리는 낮에 속하였으니 근신하여 믿음과 사랑의 흉배를 붙이고 구원의 소망의 투구를 쓰자”

성경은 주님의 재림에 대해 밤에 도적같이 온다고 말씀하고 있습니다. 이러한 주의 재림을 맞이하기 위해 준비하는 성도들의 자세는 어떠해야 할까요?

첫째는 깨어 감사함으로 기도하라고 말씀합니다. 사도바울은 골로새서 4장 2절에서 “기도를 항상 힘쓰고 기도에 감사함으로 깨어 있으라”고 하였으며, 예수님도 누가복음 21장 36절에서 “너희는 장차 올 이 모든 일을 능히 피하고 인자 앞에 서도록 항상 기도하며 깨어 있으라”고 하셨습니다. 사무엘 선지자는 ‘기도 쉬는 것이 죄’라고까지 말씀하였습니다(삼상12:23). 이러한 말씀을 종합해 볼 때, 주의 재림을 준비하는 성도는 늘 기도로 깨어있어야 합니다.

둘째는 믿음과 사랑과 소망의 무기를 가져야 합니다. 믿음과 사랑의 흉배는 사람의 신체 중 가장 중요한 기관인 심장을 보호하는 것입니다. 믿음과 사랑이 짝을 이뤄서 등장하는 것은 믿음이 냉정한 머리의 작용만이 아니고 뜨거운 사랑의 수고를 동반할 때 생명을 약동하게 한다는 것을 말해줍니다. 스프링이 솟구치듯 생명이 약동하는 능력은 결코 믿음만 가지고 되지 않습니다. 사랑이 수반돼야 합니다. 원수까지 사랑하는 사랑으로 무장할 때 그 어떠한 마귀의 공격도 다 막을 수 있습니다. 그러므로 믿음과 사랑을 수반하지 못한 신앙은 마귀의 화살에 벌써 맞은 사람이고, 어두운 흑암에 갇힌 사람입니다. 그러한 사람은 생명의 역사가 결코 일어날 수 없습니다.

‘소망의 투구’를 썼다는 것은 구원에 대한 소망이 절대 흔들림이 없다는 것을 뜻합니다. 머리에 구원의 투구를 쓰게 되면 어떠한 말에도 요동하지 않습니다. 환난 중에도 머리를 들고 전진하게 됩니다(눅21:28). 그것은 부끄럽지 않은 소망이요(롬5:5), 산 소망(벧전1:3)이며, 영광의 소망입니다(골1:27). 그래서 믿음과 사랑, 소망 이 세 가지는 성도의 필수품입니다.

날마다 종말을 살아가는 성도는 주의 재림을 준비하기 위해 믿음과 사랑의 흉배를 붙이며, 구원의 투구를 쓴 사람입니다. 오늘 하루도 여러분의 삶에 이와 같은 영적 무기를 갖추어 승리할 수 있도록 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

“But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.”

The Bible tells us that the second advent of Christ will come suddenly at night. How must a saint act in preparation for the second coming Christ?



First the Bible tells us to pray with thanksgiving. In Colossians 4:2 the apostle Paul said “devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful” and in Luke 21:36 Jesus said “be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.” When we combine these warnings, saints who are preparing for the Lord’s second coming must always be awake in prayer.

Second, we must acquire the weapon of love and hope. The breast and back of faith and love protects the heart which is the most important organ in the human body. The fact that faith and love appear together shows us that faith does not only apply to the level headed mind but when accompanied by the passionate work of love life throbs with liveliness. The power that is vibrant with life cannot be achieved with faith alone. Love must accompany it. We can block all of Satan’s attack when we arm ourselves with love that even embraces enemies. Therefore, a faith that does not have faith and love is a faith that has already been subject to the attacks of Satan and is a faith that is trapped within darkness. The work of life cannot occur within a person with such faith.

To be ‘wearing the helmet of hope’ means that one has complete faith in the hope of salvation. When we wear the helmet of salvation we will not be shaken with anything and even through sufferings we are able to hold our head up high and walk forward (Luke 21:28). This is a hope that is not shameful (Rom 5:5), it is a living hope (1 Pet 1:3), and it is a hope of glory (Col 21:27). Thus faith, love and hope are crucial to a saint.

Prayer Title

The saint who lives each day in preparation for the last day is armed with faith and love and wears the helmet of salvation. Pray that today you can arm yourself with this spiritual armory and be victorious.
