복음의 본질은 예수 그리스도

생명의 말씀

“만일 너희가 믿음에 거하고 터 위에 굳게 서서 너희 들은바 복음의 소망에서 흔들리지 아니하면 그리하리라 이 복음은 천한 만민에게 전파된 바요 나 바울은 이 복음의 일군이 되었노라”

복음이란 말을 풀어서 설명하면 ‘좋은 소식’입니다. 여기서 좋은 소식이란 인류의 구세주로서 예수 그리스도께 이 땅에 오셨음을 의미합니다. 그러므로 예수 그리스도야말로 복음의 본질입니다. 복음은 예수 그리스도 자신의 문제이고 자신의 사건인 것입니다.

1)복음은 진리에 대한 영원한 소식입니다. 진리란 변치않는 것으로, 선한 것, 정직한 것, 바른 것, 영원한 것입니다. 그러므로 복음이란 이 진리에 대해 증거해주는 영원한 소식입니다(갈2:5, 골1:5).

2)복음은 소망의 좋은 소식입니다. 골1:23절 말씀 볼 때 복음의 소망에서 흔들리지 아니한다고 하였습니다. ‘무신론자’란 다른 말로 하면 미래가 없는 자, 즉 소망이 없는 자라 할 수 있습니다. 왜냐하면 보이지 않는 하나님을 믿지 않고 보이는 세계, 물질만을 의지하기 때문입니다. 그러므로 복음은 과거뿐 아니라 현재와 미래가 동일합니다. 현재와 미래가 끊기지 않고 연결된 약속입니다. 그래서 힘이 생깁니다.

3)복음은 하나님의 약속의 좋은 소식입니다. 엡3:6절 말씀에 보면 이방인들이 복음으로 말미암아 그리스도 예수 안에서 후사가 되고 함께 지체가 되고 함께 약속에 참예하는 자가 되었다고 증거하고 있습니다. 이를 볼 때 복음 안에는 ‘약속’이 내포돼 있음을 알 수 있습니다. 복음 안에 있는 약속은 예수 그리스도 안에서 후사가 되고 지체가 된다는 약속입니다. 그 약속은 이스라엘뿐 아니라 이방인에게 열려있는 좋은 소식입니다.

4)복음은 부활하신 그리스도의 좋은 소식입니다. 딤후2:8절 말씀에서 사도바울은 “나의 복음과 같이 죽은 자 가운데서 다시 사신 예수 그리스도를 기억하라”고 하였습니다. 이는 복음의 진정성과 능력을 가리킵니다. 복음은 사망 가운데도 함께 하셔서 그 말씀대로 다시 부활시키는 능력이 있습니다.

복음은 진리에 대한 영원한 소식이며 소망의 좋은 소식이자 하나님의 약속이기도 합니다. 사도바울은 이 복음의 전파를 위한 일군이 되었다면 여러분도 사도바울을 본 받아 복음을 전하는 일군이 되도록 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

"if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, was made a minister."

Gospel is defined as “good news”. The good news is the savior, Jesus Christ who came to this earth. Therefore, Jesus Christ is the main content of the gospel. Jesus Christ is the source of the gospel and action.

1. Gospel is eternal news of truth. Truth does not change; it is good, accurate, right, and eternal. Therefore, gospel is truth that is testified with the eternal news (Galatians 2:5, Colossians 1:5).

2. Gospel is good news of hope. Colossians 1:23 states, not to move away from the hope of the gospel. You can describe atheists as those who do not have any future; they do not have any hope. They do not believe in the invisible God, but rely on visible things and possessions. Therefore, gospel connects the past, present, and future together. It is the promise to continue the present and future, rejuvenated with strength.

3. Gospel is good news of God’s promise. In Ephesians 3:6, the gentiles received the gospel and became fellow heirs and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus. Promise is stored within the gospel. Promise in the gospel enables us to be fellow members of the Christ. This promise not only applies to the Israelites but to the gentiles too.

4. Gospel is good news of resurrected Christ. Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 2:8 said,

Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel. This describes the sincerity and authority of the gospel. Gospel takes the dead and has the power to raise it.

Gospel is eternal news of truth, good news of hope, and God’s promise. Apostle Paul labored to spread the gospel. Let us pray that we can be like Apostle Paul and become God’s laborers of the gospel.
