영원히 잊지못할 금요일,토요일,일요일

요20:11-14

생명의 말씀

“마리아는 무덤 밖에 서서 울고 있더니 울면서 구푸려 무덤 속을 들여다보니 흰 옷 입은 두 천사가 예수의 시체 뉘었던 곳에 하나는 머리 편에, 하나는 발편에 앉았더라 천사들이 가로되 여자여 어찌하여 우느냐 가로되 사람이 내 주를 가져다가 어디 두었는지 내가 알지 못함이니이다 이 말을 하고 뒤로 돌이켜 예수의 서신 것을 보나 예수신줄 알지 못하더라”

주의 고난과 영광이 함께 어우러진 금요일과 토요일, 그리고 일요일의 전 과정은 우리 신앙생활의 단면을 보여주고 있는 사건이라 할 수 있습니다. 그것은 고뇌에서 죽음, 죽음에서 생명에 이르는 과정을 보여주고 있기 때문입니다.

주님께서 십자가에 달리신 금요일, 이날은 절망의 날이었습니다. 제자들이 본 것은 예수의 패배였고 그들이 맛본 것은 불의한 자들의 승리였기에 그들은 평상시 들었던 예수의 약속은 기억조차 못했던 것입니다. 부활과 재림에 대한 약속, 그리고 증인이 되라는 사명을 모두 잊었기에 금요일은 실패와 불신과 패배뿐인 절망의 날이 될 수밖에 없었습니다.

주님께서 무덤 속에 머무신 토요일은 제자들에게 있어서 허망한 날이었습니다. 그날은 제자들에게 아마도 가장 긴 날이기도 했을 것입니다. 예수는 무덤에 있고 제자들은 골방에 있습니다(요20:19). 대제사장들과 바리새인들은 승리의 축배를 들고, 주께 고난을 안긴 빌라도는 편히 잠들었지만 예수를 따르던 여인들에겐 통곡으로 지샌 슬픔의 날이었습니다. 제자들에게 또한 그날은 불안한 날이 될 수밖에 없었던 것입니다. 그러나 이 날에 너무 오래 머물러서는 안됩니다. 신앙으로 건너 뛰어야만 합니다.

그래서 저 영광스런 우리 주님의 부활의 날, 일요일에 도착해야만 합니다.

마침내 일요일의 아침은 밝았습니다. 생각보다 희망은 빨리 우리를 찾아오고 있었던 것입니다. 일요일 새벽, 무덤을 찾은 막달라 마리아가 들은 첫 음성은 ‘왜 울고 있느냐?’는 말씀이었습니다(요20:13,15). 그렇습니다. 부활의 아침은 눈물을 거두는 시간이요 걱정에서 해방되는 시간이며 약속이 성취되는 승리의 시간이기에 울 이유가 없습니다. 절망의 금요일도, 공허와 슬픔의 토요일도 새 출발의 아침, 부활의 일요일의 빛 앞에는 더 이상 머물 수가 없는 것입니다.

오늘 하루를 여러분은 어떠한 날로 보내시렵니까? 절망의 금요일입니까 아니면 슬픔과 공허의 토요일입니까? 믿음으로 이 날들을 건너 뛰어 늘 부활의 빛이 비추는 일요일, 승리의 한 날을 위하여 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

“Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’body had been, on eat the head and the other at the foot.13They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.14 At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.”

The entire course of the Lord’s sufferings and glory on Friday, Saturday and Sunday can be called the event that shows us the aspects of our spiritual lives. This is because it is showing us the process of anguish to death and death to life.

The Friday that the Lord was crucified on the cross was the day of despair. What the disciples saw was Jesus’ defeat and what they tasted was the victory of injustice hence they could not even remember the promises that Jesus had given to them. That Friday had become a day of failure, disbelief, and defeat as they had forsaken the promise of the resurrection and second coming as well as the mandate task of becoming a witness.

To the disciples, the Saturday that the Lord remained in his grave was a day of vain and it was probably the longest day for the disciples. We see Jesus in his tomb and the disciples in a small room (John 20:19). The high priests and Pharisees toasted to victory and Pilate who left Jesus with sufferings slept in peace however to the women who followed Jesus it was a day of sadness spent weeping. Moreover, that day was one that could only become a day of anxiousness for the disciples. However we mustn’t dwell too much on that day. We must overcome with faith and arrive on Sunday, the glorious day of the resurrection of our Lord.

Finally the morning of Sunday has dawned. Hope had found us faster than we thought. On the daybreak of Sunday, the first voice that was heard to Mary Magdalene who had visited Jesus’ tomb was “why are you crying?” (John 20:13, 15). The morning of resurrection is the time to stop weeping, the time we are liberated from our worries and the time of victory when the promises are fulfilled therefore there is no reason to weep. Neither can the Friday of despair, or the Saturday of vain and sadness can remain before the light of resurrection Sunday.

How will you spend this day? Will you spend it as the Friday of despair or as the vain Saturday? Pray for the Sunday that shines bright the light of resurrection, the one day of victory, that today you may overcome these days with faith.
