시139:13-14

생명의 말씀

“주께서 내 장부를 지으시며 나의 모태에서 나를 조직하셨나이다 내가 주께 감사하옴은 나를 지으심이 신묘막측하심이라 주의 행사가 기이함을 내 영혼이 잘 아나이다”

인간은 천국의 빛나는 물질로도, 반짝이는 하늘의 별이나 은금보화로도 만들어지지 않았습니다. 만물의 영장인 사람을 하나님은 가장 흔하고 보잘것 없는 흙으로 만드셨습니다. 이것은 본래 인간의 근원이 보잘것 없는 땅의 티끌이며 먼지에 불과하다는 점을 여실히 보여주고 있습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 교만한 인간은 자신의 부함을 자랑합니다. 건강과 명예와 권세를 자랑합니다. 그러나 그 이전에 모든 인간은 자신의 근본이 흙에서 왔다는 사실을 깊이 깨달아야합니다. 빈부귀천을 막론하고 먼지로 되어있으며 또한 먼지로 돌아갈 존재임을 깨닫는다면 그 누구도 하나님 앞에서 자신을 스스로 높일 수가 없습니다. 그러면 하나님께서 우리를 흙으로 창조하신 이유는 무엇일까요?

첫째는 하나님의 은총에 감사하며 살도록 하기 위해서입니다. 보잘 것 없는 자신을 하나님께서 당신의 은총으로 가장 천한 상태에서 가장 고귀한 존재로 변화시켜 주신데 대해 감사 감격하며 살아가도록 하기 위함입니다.

둘째로, 우리 인간에는 반드시 생기가 필요하다는 사실을 깨우쳐 주기 위해서입니다. 흙으로 된 인간의 코에 하나님께서 친히 생기를 불어넣어 줌으로 인간은 비로소 생령이 됐습니다(창2:7). 생령이란 산 존재를 의미합니다. 다시 말하면 인간은 하나님이 성령을 받음으로 하등 동물과 달리 하나님의 성품, 하나님의 마음을 부여받은 영혼을 가진 생명있는 인격체가 되는 것입니다. 그러므로 하나님의 말씀과 뜻을 따라 살 때에만 인간은 진정한 인간의 삶을 영위할 수 있습니다.

하나님께서 창조하신 피조물 중에 가장 아름다운 존재는 역시 사람입니다. 가장 하찮은 재료로 만들었지만 하나님의 거룩한 형상을 닮고 있기에 가장 적절한 모양으로 만들어진 하나님의 최대의 걸작품이라 할 수 있습니다(시139:13-14).

<기도제목>

가장 천한 재료인 흙으로 지음받은 사람이 창조의 면류관인 이유는 바로 하나님의 거룩한 형상으로 지음받았기 때문입니다. 아무리 미천하고 부족하다 해도 하나님의 최대의 걸작품이라는 자부심과 믿음으로 오늘 하루도 소망 가운데 승리할 수 있도록 기도하삽시오.

Psalms 139:13-14

The Word of Life

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Man was not created with the shining elements of heaven or with the bright stars of the sky or silver and gold. Man that is the lord of all creation was formed from the most common and worthless dust. This clearly shows us that the origin of man is in the invaluable dirt of the earth and the fact that man is nothing but dust.

Nevertheless, the arrogant man boasts in his wealth, health, honor and power. However, all mankind must realise that they come from dust. Whether rich or poor, once we realise that we were created with dust and therefore are beings that must return to dust nobody can heighten themselves before God. Then why did God create us with dust?





First it was to make us live giving thanks to the grace of God. It was to make us thankful and live with thankfulness for taking us who were nothing and in the lowest state and transforming us who into the most precious beings.

Secondly it was to let us realise that human’s need life. When God breathed life into the nostrils of man that had been made from dust, man became a living being (Gen 2:7). A living being signifies a living existence.

In other words, because man received the spirit of God they were not like animals and became a living person who had received the heart and spirit of God. Therefore, when man lives according to the Word and will of God, he is able to lead a true life of a human being.

Man is by far the most beautiful creation of God. Although formed using the most invaluable material man is worthy of being called the best creation of God as man resembles the image of God (Psa 139:13-14).

Prayer Title

Man who was formed from worthless dust is the crown of creation because man was created in the image of God. However lowly and lacking, pray that as God’s greatest creation you may be able to have pride and faith and be victorious within hope.
