창문을 열어라

수2:15,21

생명의 말씀

“라합이 그들을 창에서 줄로 달아 내리우니 그 집이 성벽 위에 있으므로 그가 성벽 위에 거하였음이라 ... 라합이 가로되 너희의 말대로 할 것이라 하고 그들을 보내어 가게 하고 붉은 줄을 창문에 매니라”

사람 사는 곳에는 어디나 창문이 있습니다. 이 문을 통해 통풍과 밝은 햇살을 받아들이는 역할을 합니다. 마찬가지로 우리 인생에서도 외부와 소통의 도구인 창문을 잘 여닫을 때 형통의 축복을 누리게 됩니다.

노아는 방주의 창을 만들고 닫고 여는 시기를 잘 알았기에 구원을 얻었습니다. 하나님은 노아에게 방주에 창문을 만들 것을 명령하셨습니다(창6:16). 이 창은 노아가 방주에 머물러 있는 동안 하나님과 영적인 소통을 나누는 수단이 되었습니다. 노아처럼 우리에게도 하늘을 향해 활짝 열려 있는 창이 필요합니다. 노아는 방주의 창을 열어 까마귀를 밖으로 내어 보냈으며, 비둘기를 내보내고 받아들이기도 했습니다. 지면에 물이 걷힘으로써 신앙이 신천지를 맞이하게 되었을 때 노아는 방주의 창을 활짝 열어 젖혔습니다. 그러므로 노아에게 창문은 영적 소통의 통로요 외부와 교통하는 통로이며 하나님의 축복을 받아 누리는 형통의 도구였습니다.

기생 라합 또한 창문을 열고 정탐꾼들과의 약속대로 ‘붉은 줄’을 드리움으로써 자신과 가족 모두가 구원을 받게 되었습니다(수2:15,18,21).라합이 창문에 매단 ‘붉은 줄’은 예수 그리스도의 십자가 보혈을 상징합니다. 따라서 우리는 라합처럼, 믿음의 창문을 활짝 열고 이 창을 통해서 공급되는 보혈의 능력을 통해서 죄사함을 받고 예수 그리스도와 끊어지지 않는 관계를 유지할 수 있습니다.

교회는 이 시대의 ‘방주’입니다. 따라서 교회에도 마땅히 창문이 있어야 합니다. 그 창문은 세상을 향해 언제나 활짝 열려 있어서 죄인들이 피난 올 때 따뜻하게 맞이하는 신령한 도피성이 되어야합니다. 열린 창을 통해 받은바 은혜를 증거하고 생명의 말씀을 전파해야 합니다.

오늘 하루도 하나님을 향해, 세상을 향해, 만나는 모든 사람들을 향해 창문을 활짝 열어 친밀한 사랑의 교제를 나누고, 죄에 대하여는 잘 닫아서 내 삶에 죄악이 침범해 들어오지 못하도록 기도하십시오.

Open the Window

Joshua 2:15, 21

The Word of Life

15 So she let them down by a rope through the window, for the house she lived in was part of the city wall.

21 “Agreed,” she replied. “Let it be as you say.” So she sent them away, and they departed. And she tied the scarlet cord in the window.

There are windows wherever people live. Windows allow for fresh air and sunlight to enter. Likewise, in our lives we are able to gain the blessing of prosperity when we open and close our windows properly.

Noah received salvation as he made windows for his ark and knew the right time to close and open them. God commanded Noah to make windows in the Ark (Gen 6:16). This window became the spiritual method of communication between God and Noah during his time inside the Ark. Like Noah we need a window that is wide open and facing the sky. Noah opened a window of the Ark and send out a raven and a dove that flew back. Once the floodwaters covered the surface of the Earth and a new spiritual world had emerged Noah opened wide the windows of the Ark thus the windows were a path for spiritual communication and a means of communicating with the outside world and a tool of prosperity that enabled him to receive blessings from God.

Rahab the Harlot also opened the window and let down the scarlet rope as promised with the spies, bringing herself and her family salvation (Josh 2:15, 18, 21). The scarlet rope that Rahab tied onto the window symbolizes the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross therefore like Rahab we receive atonement for our sins through the power of the blood and we are able to continue to retain the unending relationship with Jesus Christ.

The church is the Ark of our current times. The church must have a window according to the times. This window must be facing the heavens and wide open and become a spiritual place of shelter for the sinners who seek refuge. Through the open windows we need to testify of the grace received and proclaim the Word of Life.

Prayer Title

Pray that today you will be able to open up the windows towards God, the world, and every person you meet and share an intimate fellowship of love and close the windows to sin so that sin may not enter into our lives.
