시27:4

생명의 말씀

“내가 여호와께 청하였던 한가지 일 곧 그것을 구하리니 곧 나로 내 생전에 여호와의 집에 거하여 여호와의 아름다움을 앙망하며 그 전에서 사모하게 하실 것이라”

다윗은 눈 앞에 닥친 위경과 대적들의 위험 속에서도 하나님의 집에 거하는 것을 그리워하고, 하나님의 성전에서 평생 살기를 원했습니다. 살아도 주의 성전, 환난 당해도 주의 성전, 내가 죽는 한이 있더라도 주의 성전에서 떠나지 않겠다는 믿음으로 산 다윗입니다. 그래서 다윗은 “지존자의 은밀한 곳에 거하는 자는 전능하신 자의 그늘 아래 거하리로다 ... 저는 나의 피난처요 나의 요새요 나의 의뢰하는 하나님이라”(시91:1-3)하였습니다. 하나님의 성전을 자기의 피난처로, 은밀한 곳으로 믿었기에 쫓기면서도 사람을 의지하지 않고 성전에 가서 하나님을 만나고 안연히 거할 수 있었습니다.

이처럼 다윗의 신앙을 통해 그가 평생 사모했던 것을 살펴본다면, 첫째는 “주의 전에 거하는 것”이었습니다. “... 나로 내 생전에 여호와의 집에 거하여 여호와의 아름다움을 앙망하며 그 전에서 사모하게 하실 것이라”(시27:4)는 말씀이 이를 잘 대변해 주고 있습니다. 두 번째는 주의 아름다움을 바라보는 것입니다. 이는 성전에서 하나님께서 베풀어주시는 선하심과 호의, 하나님의 은총을 바라는 신앙을 말합니다. 끝으로 다윗은 성전 그 자체를 사모하였습니다. 평생동안 앙망하고 정신을 집중하여 성전만을 생각했습니다. “내가 성전에서 하나님 앞에 먹고 마시고, 묻겠습니다”라며 건강이 쇠약해질 정도로 성전을 사모하였습니다(시84:1-2).

주의 집에 거하는 자가 복이 있다고 시84:4에 기록돼 있습니다. 그렇기에 시편기자는 “주의 궁정에서의 한 날이 다른 곳에서 천 날보다 낫고 악인의 장막에 거함보다 하나님 문지기로 있는 것이 더 좋다”고 고백하였습니다(시84:10). 이러한 신앙으로 무장하여, 오늘 하루도 어디에 있든지 몸된 교회를 사모하며 주의 장막에 거하는 삶이 되기를 바랍니다.

다윗처럼 성전을 사모하는 마음을 주시고, 주의 전에 거하는 삶을 통해 하나님과 가까이 동행하는 하루가 될 수 있기를 위해 기도하십시오.

The Word of Life

“One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.”

Even when faced with grave danger, David longed to dwell in the house of God and wished to live in the temple of God forever. David lived with the faith that he would not leave the temple of God when alive or dead and during times of affliction therefore David confessed in Psalms 91:1-3 “whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. .I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust”. He was able to not rely on people and go to the temple to meet God and remain there.

Likewise through David’s faith when we look at all the things he yearned for throughout his entire life, the first was “to dwell in the house of the Lord”. His confession in Psalms 27:4“That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple” clearly speaks of this. Secondly, it was looking at the beauty of the Lord. This speaks of the kindness and hospitality that God provides in the temple and a faith that seeks the grace of God. Finally, David had a love for the temple itself. Throughout his entire life he yearned and thought only about the temple with great concentration. He longed for the temple until his health had weakened; “My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God”(Psa 84:1-2).

It is recorded in Psalms 84:4 that the person who dwells in the house of the Lord is blessed. Therefore the Psalmist confessed in Psalms 84:10 that “better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked”. May you put on the armor of faith like David and wherever we are today yearn for the church and dwell in the tents of the Lord.

Prayer title

Pray that we are given a heart of yearning for the temple like David and by living a life of dwelling in the house of the Lord may we be able to abide closely to God.
