울지말라

눅7:13-16

생명의 말씀

“주께서 과부를 보시고 불쌍히 여기사 울지말라 하시고 가까이 오사 그 관에 손을 대시니 멘 자들이 서는지라 예수께서 가라사대 청년아 내가 네게 말하노니 일어나라 하시매 죽었던 자가 일어앉고 말도 하거늘 예수께서 그를 어미에게 주신대 모든 사람이 두려워하며 하나님께 영광을 돌려 가로되 큰 선지자가 우리 가운데 일어나셨다 하고 또 하나님께서 자기 백성을 돌아보셨다 하더라”

하나님은 모든 위로에 충만한 분이십니다. 우리의 형편과 처지를 살피시고 우리에게 있어야 될 것과 있어서는 안될 것을 감찰하시면서 우리의 눈물과 고통을 힘을 다해 씻어 주시는 분입니다. 주님은 이런 능력을 가지고 과부를 찾아오셔서 그 눈의 눈물과 슬픔을 씻겨 주셨습니다. 본문에 나타난 이 사건의 영적 의미를 함께 살펴보도록 하겠습니다.

첫째, 하나님의 생각해 주시는 은총을 입어야 한다는 것입니다. 하나님께서 한번 생각해 주시는 은총보다 더 큰 축복이 어디 있겠습니까? 따라서 인생은 하나님의 긍휼하심에 기초한 삶을 살아야 합니다. 우리의 힘과 능으로 되는 일은 아무것도 없습니다. 오직 하나님의 신의 역사, 그 사랑과 긍휼의 힘으로써만 날마다 형통의 삶을 보장받을 수 있습니다. 예수님은 과부의 외로움과 고통을 헤아리시고 찾아오셔서 긍휼을 베푸신 것입니다. 하나님께서 불쌍히 여겨 주시는 것은 우리를 생각해 주시는 것입니다. 이는 하나님께서 라헬을 생각해 주실 때 요셉을 잉태하고, 한나를 생각하실 때 자녀 없는 고통을 해결하사 사무엘을 낳게된 것과 같은 이치입니다.

둘째, 예수님께서 우리의 인생을 책임져 주신다는 것을 깨달아야 합니다. ‘울지말라’는 예수님의 말씀 속에는 “내가 책임져 줄테니 염려말라”는 뜻이 들어있습니다. 어떤 슬픔과 고통에 몸부림친다 해도 그 원인을 근본적으로 치유해 주십니다. 회당장 야이로의 딸이 죽었을 때도 주님은 ‘울지말라’고 하셨습니다(눅8:54-55). 마찬가지로 과부에게도 ‘울지말라’고 하시고, 장례를 지내기 위해 나가는 관에 손을 대시고 ‘청년아 일어나라!’ 하시매 죽었던 아들이 벌떡 일어나서 과부의 품에 안겼습니다.

이처럼 하나님의 긍휼의 은총을 받기 위해서는 우리의 삶 가운데 간절한 기도가 있어야합니다. 예수님처럼 ‘겟세마네’ 동산의 간절한 기도, 생명을 건 기도가 있을 때 ‘울지말라’ 위로하시며 책임져 주시는 은총을 만나게 됩니다.

오늘 하루 여러분은 어떤 근심과 괴로움을 안고 있습니까? 그 문제가 무엇이든지,아무리 어려운 것이라 할지라도 간절한 기도로 주님께 고하고 맡김으로 ‘울지말라’ 는 주님의 위로의 음성, 문제해결의 음성을 듣도록 간구하십시오.

The Word of Life

13 When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.” 14Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” 15The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. 16They were all filled with awe and praised God. “A great prophet has appeared among us,” they said. “God has come to help his people.”

God is abundant with all consolation. He looks after our situation and circumstances and examines what we are in need of and wipes away our tears and pain with all His strength. The Lord came with such powers to the widow and washed away her tears and sorrow. Let us look at the spiritual meaning to this incident.

First, we need to be clothed in the grace of God that looks after us. When God considers us there is no greater blessing therefore we need to live our lives on the foundation of God’s benevolence. There is nothing that can be done with our strength and will. Only God’s sovereign work, love, and the strength of His mercy can guarantee us a life of prosperity each and every day.

Jesus considered the loneliness and pain of the widow and bestowed mercy upon her. When God shows us mercy, He is in fact considering us. It was likewise when God considered Rachel, she was able to give birth to Joseph and when He considered Hannah, her woes of not being able to conceive were solved and she was able to give birth to Samuel.

Secondly, we need to realise that Jesus takes responsibility for our lives. In Jesus’ speech “do not weep” is the message to not worry for He will be responsible. Whatever sorrows and pain we are in He will heal the cause at its origin. When the daughter of the synagogue leader Jairus died the Lord told him to “stop wailing” (Luke 8:54-55) and he also told the widow to “stop crying and placed his hands on the coffin of the widows son and commanded the young man to “get up!”. At that moment the young man who was dead was raised from death and the widow embraced her son.

In order to receive the grace of benevolence we need to have earnest prayers in our lives. When there is evidence of earnest prayer that puts our lives up on the line like Jesus’ prayers on Mount Gethsemane we are able to meet God who comforts us and gives us the grace of being responsible for our lives.

What worries and sufferings do you harbor today? Whatever the problem may be and whatever hardships there are through earnest prayer, tell God your problems and pray that you will be able to hear the comforting voice of God by putting our trust in Him.
